World-leading scientists and experts say that €7.5 billion is sufficient to develop solutions for effective and safe diagnostics, treatments, and vaccines to fight the COVID-19. With these funds, The Coronavirus Global Response will implement a wide array of innovative solutions that will address different aspects of the Coronavirus crisis, including COVID-19 early detection, monitoring and treatment, preservation of healthcare systems and preventing the virus from coming back. It will support the researchers and innovators who work on the systems that prevent and control the spread of the coronavirus in these critical times. The European Commission has already registered €7.4 billion in pledges from donors worldwide, with a €1 billion mobilised by Horizon 2020.
We believe that only in unity we can curb this crisis, and without wide-scale innovative solutions we as a European and global community all remain vulnerable. We believe in the success and importance of this initiative, and join the call for the governments and the businesses to support the Coronavirus Global Response.
